Jehovah-Shammah

A man was visiting a surgeon friend in Mungeli, India. On the wall of a stark operating room was a sign with these words:

“Thou, God, Seest Me.”

The way we live our lives, do our business, behave in private and in public, and treat other people is transformed when we realize that God is with us in every circumstance, and that He always sees.

“Jehovah-Shammah” means “the Lord is present.”

At the end of the book of Ezekiel, God showed the prophet a vision of the temple that will be used during the millennial reign of Jesus Christ, when the Lord Himself will rule over the earth from Jerusalem.

There are many beautiful and wonderful things about the Holy City of Jerusalem when Jesus rules there for a thousand years, but the most important thing about it is described in the last verse of Ezekiel:

And the name of the city from that day shall be: THE LORD IS THERE. ” (Ezekiel 48:35, NKJV)

Each of the names of God we have meditated upon in recent days finds its ultimate expression in Jesus Christ.

God is Jehovah-Jirah – the Lord who provides. His greatest provision is His Son, Jesus, who died in our place for our sins.

God is Jehovah-Tsidkenu – the Lord our righteousness. Because of Jesus, God has clothed us with His own righteousness, not holding our sins against us.

God is Jehovah-Shalom – the Lord our peace. We have peace with God through Jesus Christ and the peace of God from Jesus Christ.

God is Jehovah-Nissi – the Lord our banner. In the resurrection of Jesus we have victory over our greatest enemies.

God is Jehovah-Rophe – the Lord heals. God sent His only Son that we might be healed by His wounds upon the cross.

And again, when we come to Jesus Christ – Immanuel, God with us – we experience the full meaning of Jehovah-Shammah. The Lord is there. He sees, He knows, He cares – because He is intimately present in your life!

Have a great day and keep moving forward!
