Dr. Stephen Rummage, Senior Pastor Stephen Rummage Stephen Rummage is the senior pastor of Bell Shoals Baptist Church in Brandon, Florida, a multi-campus church with over 8,000 members in the Tampa Bay area. He is a frequent guest speaker for churches and conferences across the United States. He and his wife, Michele, live near Brandon, along with their son, Joshua. Stephen currently serves as the chairman of the Southern Baptist Convention Executive Committee and president of the Florida Baptist State Convention. He spent more than seven years as professor of preaching at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina, and continues to teach on a visiting basis at several institutions. A magna cum laude graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Stephen also holds the M.Div. from Southeastern Seminary and completed the Ph.D. in preaching and theology at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. His Planning Your Preaching is used widely as a textbook. He co-authored Engaging Exposition, named "Book of the Year" by Preaching Today in 2012. With Michele Rummage, he wrote Praying with Purpose: A 28-Day Journey to an Empowered Prayer Life. Moving Forward Day by Day, a yearlong devotional, features daily readings selected from his messages.
Jason Millsaps, Pastor of Music & Worship Jason Millsaps Jason has served as the Pastor of Music and Worship at Bell Shoals Baptist Church since 2014. Jason has oversight and leadership to the Bell Shoals Worship Ministry, which includes the Bell Shoals 200 voice worship choir, band, orchestra, middle and high school student choir, senior adult chorale, and children’s choirs. The Bell Shoals worship ministry continues to carry the long history of exceptional seasonal music productions and producing worship projects while leading people each Sunday in transformational worship. Jason has earned degrees from Carson Newman College (Bachelor of Music with a Minor in Business Administration) and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (Master of Arts in Worship). Jason has served in churches in Texas, New Mexico, and Georgia. Jason worked with G3 Music Publishing Company as the music editor, writer, and co-producer. Jason has a heart and passion in building and equipping individuals, choirs and bands to lead in worship.
Gary Payne, Executive Pastor Ed Hancock
Ed Hancock, Pastor of Administration Ed Hancock Ed currently serves as the Pastor of Administration here at Bell Shoals Baptist Church overseeing media, business operations and finance, facilities, food service, communications, and campus safety. Ed spent 10 years with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office working in patrol, narcotics, training, and as a detective in property crimes and white-collar crime. Ed received commendations from the United States Secret Service, the United States Postal Inspection Service, and the East Hillsborough County Law Enforcement Association. During the next 18 years, Ed worked in various capacities for a consulting firm including management and forensic accounting. Ed has been on staff at Bell Shoals Baptist Church since 2015. Ed has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology from the University of South Florida and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. Ed is currently pursuing a seminary degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Ed is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the state of Florida and holds the professional designation of Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF).
Debbie Weisemann, Minister of Guest Services Debbie Weisemann Debbie Weisemann has served at Bell Shoals Baptist Church for over 25 years. She gives leadership to Sunday Morning Ministries which includes Guest Services and Assimilation. In addition, she oversees Community Outreach, Evangelism, Discipleship, Women and Prayer Ministries. Her passion is for people to become fully engaged followers of Christ. She is a graduate of Northern Illinois University with degrees in Education and Psychology, with a Master's from the Great Commission School of Theology. Prior to coming to Bell Shoals she and her husband served on staff with Campus Crusade for Christ as part of the church growth leadership team.
Janie Guffey, Minister of Preschool & Children Janie Guffey Janie Guffey was called to ministry before entering 9th grade. She has served in Preschool and Children’s Ministry since 1977. She received her B.A. from Gardner-Webb College in Boiling Springs, N.C. in 1975 and her Masters’ Degree in Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1977. Janie served on staff at First Baptist, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Carmel Baptist, Charlotte, N.C.; and Bell Shoals Baptist, Brandon, FL. She is married to Joseph and they have a married son and daughter and two granddaughters.
Sieg Hildebrandt, Pastor of Care Ministries Debbie Weisemann Sieg is our pastor who oversees the Pastoral Care Ministries of Bell Shoals. He spent 30 years serving in the US Army. Upon retiring in 1998 from the Army’s Special Forces, he served in a variety of lay positions in the church while attending Southeastern Seminary. Ordained into the Gospel Ministry in 2001, he went on to serve as the senior pastor of two Tampa area churches before returning to Bell Shoals in 2016. Sieg exercises pastoral oversight for our Benevolence, Bereavement, Hospital ministries and Pastoral Counseling. He and his bride of 48 years have three children and two grandsons.
Ken Orihood, Pastor of Senior Adults & Care Recovery Ken Orihood Ken currently serves as the pastor of Celebrate Recovery and Co-Pastor of Senior Adults here at Bell Shoals Baptist Church. Ken spent over 30 years in the telecommunications industry serving both domestically and internationally in the U.S. Air Force and the private sectors. Ken served bi-vocationally as a staff member here at Bell Shoals Baptist Church for 14 years before joining the staff full time in 2017. He has served on the national team of Celebrate Recovery with the founder John Baker and has been a speaker and trainer for Celebrate Recovery International. He has multiple certifications in the telecommunications field as well as extensive training and real-life recovery experience.
Matthew Angell, Pastor of Student Ministry Matthew Angell Matthew currently serves as the Pastor of Student Ministry here at Bell Sholas Baptist Church overseeing 7th-12th grade. He has been on staff with Bell Shoals Baptist Church since 2016. Prior to coming on staff, he worked for two years in public accounting followed by a year in the accounting department at Life Church in Oklahoma City. Matthew graduated from the University of South Florida with a degree in accounting. He is set to graduate in December 2018 with his Master of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Matt Hill, Apollo Beach Campus Pastor Matt Hill Matt Hill serves as the Apollo Beach Campus Pastor of Bell Shoals Baptist Church. Matt received his B.S. in Business Management from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and went on to complete his Master of Divinity at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Before coming to Bell Shoals, Matt served 2 other churches in North Carolina in youth and college ministry. Matt is married to his wife, Rachel, and has 3 children—Avonlea, Caleb and Isaac. Kevin Bumgarner, Director of Communications Charles Young Kevin currently serves as Director of Communications for Bell Shoals Baptist Church, where he is responsible for social media, internal and external communication, advertising, promotion and brand management. Kevin spent more than 20 years with American City Business Journals, the largest producer of business news publications and websites in the country. During that time, he was the lead editor of print and digital products in Wichita, Kan.; Dallas, and Honolulu. He also was the founding editor of the print and digital products in the Greensboro/Winston-Salem area of North Carolina. In those roles, the newsrooms he led earned more than 60 journalism awards at state and national levels, including the Society of American Business Editors and Writers’ top award for best website for weekly news publications while in Dallas, and ACBJ’s General Excellence award twice while in North Carolina. Kevin was executive editor for the Florida Baptist Witness for three years before joining the ministry of Bell Shoals Baptist Church last August. He and his wife, Melanie, have three grown children and one middle-aged beagle.
Charles Young, Ph.D. Evangelist and Author Charles Young Dr. Charles Young holds several degrees including a Bachelor in Religious Education, a Master of Ministry, a Doctor of Philosophy in Christian Counseling, Doctor of Theological Studies and a Doctor of Ministry. His history includes having been a senior pastor in the United States, a missionary in Portugal, and a corporate chaplain. He has taught the Bible in Spain, Portugal, Northern Africa, Haiti, Mexico, Israel, Kenya, and Ethiopia. He has authored 6 books designed to help with the discipleship and evangelism process, “Charging Hell with a Squirt-gun”, “God or Religion – The Truth” a seeker-friendly book, and “Deeper Bible Thinking” a book that answers controversial questions. Books that are good for small group study include “Connect with God without the confusion of religion, “Intentional Evangelism”, and “Prophecy and the End Times.” His specialty is drawing together lost people into Bible study groups and teaching them the Gospel message. www.charlesyoungphd.com.
