Dr. Stephen Rummage
Stephen Rummage is the Senior Pastor of Bell Shoals Baptist Church in Brandon, Florida, a multi-campus church with over 9,000 members in the Tampa Bay area. He is a frequent guest speaker for churches and conferences across the United States. His daily radio teaching ministry, Moving Forward, airs throughout Florida and nationwide on Sirius/XM satellite radio. Dr. Rummage’s personal ministry vision is to teach God’s Word to transform lives. He and his wife, Michele, live near Brandon, along with their son, Joshua.
A recognized leader in ministry, academics, and Baptist denominational life, Dr. Rummage served as the second vice president of the Southern Baptist Convention in 2009-2010 and president of the Florida Baptist Pastors’ Conference in 2012. He is also a member of SBC Executive Committee. In addition to his present church in Florida, he has held pastorates in North Carolina, Louisiana, and Virginia. He previously was professor of preaching and director of the Doctor of Ministry Program at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina, and continues to teach on a visiting basis at several institutions.
Dr. Rummage received the B. A. from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, graduating magna cum laude. He holds the M. Div. with a specialization in biblical languages from Southeastern, and completed the Ph. D. in preaching and theology at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Dr. Rummage has authored or contributed to eight books. His Planning Your Preaching is used widely as a seminary and college textbook. With Michele Rummage, he co-authored Praying with Purpose. Both Planning Your Preaching and Praying with Purpose have been published in Spanish translations. He also co-authored Engaging Exposition with Daniel Akin and Bill Curtis, named “Book of the Year” by Preaching Today in 2012.
